Lafferty is undoubtedly better than just about every sci-fi author. But is he himself a sci-fi author? I'm not convinced.
He might use sci-fi concepts to set up the zany stage he wants, but he's more of a madcap surrealist with a bit of G.K.Chesterton thrown in.
