Cast away
Like a broken toy,
Now I lie here
Battered and bleeding.

Do you even
Bat an eyelash
At my pain?

Surrounded by
Good memories, but
Drowning in the bad,
Will I ever
Make heads or tails
Of this unearthly conundrum?

Have you ever
For once in your life
Been dying to
Scream?

Taken me away
Beyond this world,
Beyond this era,
Beyond this continuum.

How does it feel
To be forgotten?

Let this (me)
Go.

OP is 12, considers Linkin Park lyrics to be the highest form of literature and has never read a real poem.

I liked your poem, OP. Sorry other people have to be so mean, they dont ever write anything of their own. They just enjoy putting others down. Your poem had many good parts in it that brought out emotions in me of things I have experienced.

I'm a grad student in the creative writing field. I write constantly. This is a terrible poem.

It wasn't bad at all. They are trolls who have been brainwashed by the people who say all people who write emotional poems are "emo cutting self-pitying freaks". Maybe you are one, but if you are then you possess skill.

I agree with you, OP does have talent. However, the poem reminds me a lot of what I wrote during my high schools days when I was dealingg with depression, and when I look back at those days, I don't feel anything but disgust because I WAS an emo self-pitying freak. This poem gives off the same very young, immature vibes.

There's nothing wrong with expressing yourself via poetry, just don't over-do it.

Dear God.

It seems that, if I deem this as bad, I'm clearly a troll. Though if I deem it as well-written, I would be lying.

What the fuck guys?

Regardless, I will be honest. This wasn't the best thing I've read, by far. But it still has potential. And by it, I mean you.

Assuming you want to continue writing Poetry, keep in mind that the progression in which one makes to become better varies from person to person. So, regardless of what age you are (honestly, I don't care), it could take a matter of weeks, or years, or decades to reach any heightened sense of achievment. So keep writing, keep posting, and keep rolling with the punches so to speak.

Something is off about this poem...
Y'know... Where you may have gone wrong was in writing six sentences, then separating them at random intervals in what I can only assume was a personal attack against the institutions of rhyme and meter.

No. The opposite of this. I don't give a good goddamn how emo a poet is (some of the best have been, unbearably so). I care if he produces something that demonstrates some sort of care in its choice of words. That's the entire point of poetry. It's expression of feeling, yes, but the point is to do so novelly. I'm not a tyrant. It doesn't necessarily have to fit a perfect rhyme scheme, but I need some imagery or complex metaphors, or narrative. What we're seeing is a very small amount of prose, squeezed into the shape of a poem.
And OP, making the frankly extreme assumption that you aren't a troll, you shouldn't take this as an insult. But you need to practice, and read, and learn, because free-verse is not a pass to turn an incomplete paragraph into a poem.

Why do people so insist on writing all their poems about 'vague loneliness and anger'? Are there no other experiences in the world?

>> No.1081315

Everybody should just leave the OP alone.

It's great. It makes me want to wear eyeshadow and cut myself while I masturbate to a Twilight movie.
