Zizek's books are not that good because he recycles a lot of his material, but he is a very intelligent guy. In some of his lectures and articles he gives a fresh perspective on philosophical topics. Clearly the man has a wide ranging background in continental philosophy from Hegel,Kant, Marx,Freud, Althusser and Lacan.

He has remained pretty committed in being anti-poststructuralist which I deem a breath of fresh air in the current environment of philosophy and his movie reviews are great. He is not really to be compared with meme youtube celebrities, the guy was his own thing since the 90's. The only thing that annoys me is that Verso is shilling his slovene Lacanian cult buddies a bit too much.
