What are some books you think everyone should read and why?

>> No.10791396

Some of what you have there are essential.

If you're into logic or mathematics, The Elements.

If you're into Politics or early Philosophy/Theology, The Laws, Republic, Timaeus, and Metaphysica are important.

And I would check out The Holy Bible, The Koran, The Tao te Ching, and The Dhammapada, at the very least.

I believe God is definitely real.

The Master and Margarita, it matches all criteria:
>doesn't require previous knowledge of literature or anything else
>is ultra amusing in every aspect - comical, mysterious, tragical, dramatical, action packed etc.
>is influental
>is timeless
Everyone who I know that has read this book is his favourite one.

The only issue is that part II gets romantic, so you could drop it there.

IDK man, I didn't read it in English. Do some research on search engines and in 4chan archives, there're many discussions.

The Road by Cormac McCarthy. It's fairly easy to read, relatively short, and is a border between genre and literary fiction. You won't be reading something as pleb as harry potter but you it also ain't something by Pynchon
