Do you usually read one book at a time until you're done with it or multiple books?

>> No.10758917

Generally around three by the same time. More and I can't focuse enough.

Why anyone would read only one book at a time is beyond me, brainlet behaviour

>sit down to read a book
>oh boy I better stop! wouldn’t want to finish without starting another! don’t wanna be called a "brain let"

I usually read about five or six books at the same time, fiction and non fiction thematically tied together and preferably set in the same period of time. That way they all kind of blend together and form this giant narrative enveloping me and maximizing my immersion. Reading one book at a time must be like looking through a peephole in a fence at a vast and beautiful landscape

literally quantity over quality tier behavior. And no, you can't devote your attention to 3 books the same way you can devote it to one.

Started the Mars trilogy. Got burned out in the middle of the third book.

Started reading Conan series. Got burned out a couple stories in.

Started the Rats trilogy. Finished it. Now going back to finish the last book in the Mars trilogy.

Usually just one fiction book at a time, though sometimes I'll read a short story collection while I"m also reading a novel. Nonfiction is a separate category and I'll have a few going at once.
