ITT: Post your political stance and your major/degree

And no, this is not a /pol/ thread, i'm just looking to see if there is some truth to the notion that all Arts-fags are commies while all STEMfags are filled with apolitical conservatives.

My political stance is that different political/economic systems are appropriate for different times and places. By appropriate I mean that the systems are adaptive to group survival. For example, capitalist systems are currently most adaptive to group survival in the western world but this was not always the case and will not always be the case.

what we call political beliefs are nothing but a manifestation of those thoughts and feelings about ourselves and others that we are too ignorant to express honestly.

without resorting to specific labels, i don't think it's too controversial to point out that most people can't really provide very deep reasons for why they believe what they believe.

About as centrist and apolitical as it gets. I always get a very slight shift to leftist libertarian on the compasses but I think the only reason is because of environmentalism (which used to be a very right-wing thing anyway...)

There is some truth in this. Humanities in America are pretty left-wing, at least in the American sense of "left-wing", but sometimes not. STEMfags are either apolticial or they are moderates who really dislike the extreme ends of the political distribution. They especially hate evangelical conservatives but are also found to hate SJWs and feminists. You do find some other ideologies among STEM-fags, but the right is virtually non-existent in the humanities, except for me it seems.

does that invalidate them as stances?
why can't I decide I hate X and like Y then pick an ideology geared towards making more Y and less X?
you're working backwards
these ideologies exist and people have these ideologies because they have proven useful in realizing and formalizing ideals and complaints
people don't just settle on an ideology out of instinct without knowing the underlying feelings that make them like that ideology

And honestly it is something that bothers me intensely, and makes me second guess every political thought I have. I sometimes think that almost all the beliefs we have about everything are actually just forms of narcissistic rearranging of reality to make versions of the world in which we like ourselves.

That's really neither here nor there though, I don,t think you have to be an IQlet to not realize when your repressed emotions are influencing your beliefs.

I'm Brazilian so I mostly read stuff in portuguese
There's plenty of Integralist literature both from Portugal and Brazil and they have distinct but similar flavours. I like some aspects from both, but I just think the Blueshirts fundamentally understood the monkey soul and reality. I think Plínio Salgado was an extremelly perceptive and sensitivr man that isn't considered one of Brazil's greatests just because of his politics. Salazar for Portugal too, though he wasn't an Integralist and just picked and chose some aspects from it.
I don't think there's much from these sources in English, but you could try Falangist literature, which incorporates some cultural aspects, and Rexist, which can get pretty Nazi, but has plenty of clerical aspects.
I'll admit that I haven't read enough political philosophy to say that I'm confident about it, and I hesitate in associating myself with such a toxic label.
Nowadays I just vote for the christian social flavour of the year and avoid political discussions as much as possivle to avoid being accused of being a crazy nazi

According to Catholic eschatology it is very likely that we are close to the end times, especially in light of the heretical antipopes currently commanding Rome. The world is completely secularized and all but a few have forgotten God completely. In this scenario, there's no point in having any concerns for politics, we're already far too gone.
I'm brazilian btw, not american
