1060344 No.1060344 [Reply] [Original]

Welcome one and all to the second official /lit/ riddle thread! For those of you who waited faithfully for tonight, thank you for your dedication and contributions last time; for those of you who are new to the event, thank you for participating! The rules are simple and remain basically the same: post a riddle, regardless of source, and let people guess at it. Although I obviously can’t really control this, I like to hope people will be chivalrous about this and not look up the answers to riddles that stump them, as it’s…unfortunate, to say the least. Let the riddle’s poser give the answer. Very satisfying feeling for both parties involved in my experience.

To make it interesting, first person to state the correct answer receives a point (I’ll be keeping tallies). Any riddle that stumps the entire audience rewards the presenter two points. Person with the most points at the end of the night receives bragging rights and omnipotence in all matters /lit/ related for a week. I myself will not be eligible to win, as that seems rather biased. However, I highly recommend that if you wish to play for points, you create a tripcode. To do this, simply put a name in the name field, put a pound sign (#) immediately after the name, and type another word or code only you would guess. It’s like a password for your name, so there’s no chance of me confusing you with another contestant.

I’ll kick things off:

We are little brethren twain, Arbiters of loss and gain, Many to our counters run, Some are made, and some undone. But men find it to their cost, Few are made, but numbers lost, Though we play them tricks forever, They all hope to win our favor. What are we?

Inside the green house there was a white house
Inside the white house there was a red house.

Alright, Im gonna leave that one up for whoever wishes to solve it. You'll know it if you get it.

It's been a great thread everyone, thanks for coming out. Winner this time around is UHOH spaghetti-Os !PLvpfdIDAw with 9 points on the board. Congrats dude. Assuming anyone considers this valid authority, you get bragging rights and omnipotence for a week. Enjoy it, you earned it (as far as I can discern) quite fairly and with grace.

Next thread's September 20th, 10:00 Eastern U.S. time. Until then, adieu.
