It was the first self-help (now called personal development) book I've read. Some of the advice was obvious to anyone with half a brain and the writing style wasn't funny--although I think he was just trying to be relateable, not funny.

The main selling point, apart from the edgy title, is that he dismisses all of the traditional self-help tenets and shows how they only repress the pain, recognition, and action that leads to real development.

It did enlighten me to some errors I've been repeating for years though, and prompted me to evaluate my personal values so I can set some goals. It's a really easy read. Got it for Christmas and finished it that day. I'd recommend it if you're interested.
