Why you do this?

Anyway, Animal Farm was just the story of the rise of Soviet Russia, but with farm animals. That's all it is and that's all I got from it. The one illustrated by Ralph Steadman is great in my opinion.

no. it's a simplistic fairytale with an evil piggy and a good piggy. but there are no good piggies to politics.
the revolution was not betrayed by stalin, it was still-born.

You don't "spee" it huh?

That's probably why you learned everything you know about politics from Animal Farm.

PS: Not really something to be proud of or to tout as an accomplishment on /lit/.

pig man bigf man, haha!

I learned pretty much about politics from Orwell but not from Animal Farm but from Homage to Catalonia and his Essays.

>> No.1049559

I learned politics from actual books on politics, like, dozens of them, during my studies. Orwell is an excellent writer still, Animal Farm and Homage to Catalonia and his essays are great and a fervent plea for never forgetting that you're still dealing with living and breathing and feeling human beings, but if you want to learn about the actual conception and mechanisms of politics instead of merely (and admittedly great) impressive one-liners, you need to read non-fiction.

The Red Terror and the Great Terror (Purge) were not the same thing.
Just my two cents.
