You pretty much have to get more specific, there is Lutheran, Calvinists, Anglican, Anabaptist theology, as well as later sects like Methodists, Baptists, Congregationalists etc. Generally, they can be divided into "High Church" (Catholicism Lite) "Low Church" (fire and brimstone) or "Other" (Quakers, Hussites, Mennonites, Pentecostals and other assorted weirdos that both Catholic and mainline Protestants tended to burn at the stake).

The split between High and Low Church pretty much began after Luther's death, with most of the more radical Lutherans becoming Calvinists once Calvinism was set down. The general trend after the thirty years war was for High Church factions to take the ascendant, and secular rulers to attempt to force ecumenicism and syncretism upon the state church, such as Frederick the great forcing Prussian Calvinists and Lutherans to operate under the same umbrella church which still operates today.

Long story short, start with Lutheran theologians, then Anglican, then Calvinist.
