I'm home over winter break, feeling a little depressed, want to read a short novel to get my mind off of things. Any recommendations? I almost exclusively read non-fiction and my fiction list is filled with stuff like Blood Meridian and I'm not reading that.

It's funny in the same way that Peep Show is funny. I've read it already, it's not what I'm looking for anyway.

Philip K Dick. Try "Flow My Tears, the Policeman Said" or "Ubik". They are fun and strange sci-fi stories that can be blown through in a few days at a leisurely pace, but exciting and strange enough you'll never expect where they're going.

'Whatever' is fairly short, light in tone, and ultimately uplifting.
It's not a particularly challenging book either, perfect for winter break.
