If I read 2-3 hours a day I develop a headache and my eyes feel like they are bleeding. Is it time for me to get glasses? Pic unrelated

I had this problem and I realized it was because I was holding to book right up to my face.

I think I'm holding the book a foot and a half away unless the book is too big to hold which case my face is less than a foot away. Is that too close?

I don't think so

It might depend on the person

You could experiment

Also, are you squinting?

I don't think so. I would have to observe myself over a period of time. I thought it could be because I'm looking down. Should I try holding it up to eye level?

Looking down for a while might be able to cause a tension headache, but I'm not sure

I'll keep it in mind. Thanks!

You might need glasses tbqh

It's possible, I have similar symptoms when staring down at a book despite being fine when reading in a different position. No idea how I got so sensitive about it though, probably due to having rather poor eyesight to begin with.

I feel the same way but I just got new glasses so it's probably just that.

You should probably visit a doctor regardless, anon
