Thoughts?

We were supposed to read this for a lit class but dropped it due to time constraints. Sounded interesting. Teacher basically said he autistically rambles about historical things. Something about a history of the fishing industry wherever it is that he's walking. I will read it hopefully once semester ends.

This is, without a doubt, the worst cover I have ever seen in my life

What the fuck were they thinking?

It's fine - relates fragmentation themes and the hypertextual nature of the whole thing - but certainly horrid when compared with divine-tier Russian cover.

Sebald succeeds at 'factual melancholy', which I find fascinating. Somehow the books relates the inherent solemnity of things and facts, and not just sadness produced upon observing them.

Rings of Saturn is Sebald's finest work. It is a thoroughly delightful read, akin to a fireside chat with an older relative. That being said, I was disappointed with his other works. Emigration and Austerlitz, while capturing some of the magic Sebaldian meandering, do not hold a candle to Rings.
