Yes and no.
IQ scores are the most accurate representation of the g factor we have, but they're by no means absolute. A lot of unrelated psychological factors impact the final score too heavily. ( e.g a sleepless night before the test will make it unrepresentative)
IQ isn't a static either; at best it represents a
snapshot of your current mental processing power. Which is again heavily influenced by the way you have been using your brain the last few years.

He wanted a book that he could relate to and I suggested one with themes reflective of the interests latent in his post even though I didn't personally enjoy the book. I will disregard the debate of whether or not iq is a accurate metric for intelligence, I will admit I do not know enough about the matter.
However, I refuse to believe iq is an accurate metric for reading ability. There is probably some correlation, but no iq test tests your comprehension of high literature.

But, one thing people has to know; you can have really high IQ but be "bad" at math, or I like to call it "lazy at math". Personally I find it boring as fuck, and in school I never bothered learning more than what was needed to pass. Although I did this for everything else as well, I found "everything else" fun.
So I never learned "head math", I just read about how to solve the equations and formulas before each test, then eventually forgot about it.
