I've never read a book of my own free will. These are the three that interest me, what should I start with?

>The Catcher in the Rye
>Blood Meridian
>The Man in the High Castle

if what you say is true, then catcher in the rye. It's an entertaining read.

>> No.10250193

Go with Catcher In The Rye its a good book to read. I read it a couple years after reading it in school and ended up loving the book

>> No.10250208

Catcher In the Rye is the best of the three to start with. TMITHC is written simply but juggles multiple plotlines and Blood Meridian is like the mid-year exam of /lit/core.
Remember to enjoy yourself while you still can!

Blood Meridian, easy.

you'll never want to read again after any of those

If you have never read a book of your own free will then you will fail.

If you are just choosing a book because "It's known to be a good book to start off with" then you're missing the whole fucking point of reading.

Go to a bookstore. Go to the library. Find a book that interests you. If you enjoy the first page then grab that book and see how far it takes you. If you don't enjoy the book then throw it fucking away and pick something else.

If you didn't read Catcher in middle school, you missed out on when it would be most powerful for you. But it's still a good book
