>Imagine a room like this, nice old wooden bookshelves, a bunch of classics, encyclopedias, books on language, history, theology, and philosophy all lining the shelves, mostly hardbacks. A little writing desk is in the corner next to a window, with a stack of your journals filled with writing notes, fragments of stories, ideas for novels, etc. No laptop because artificial screens aren’t comfy. You do things in longhand and then copy them carefully with an old hand-me-down typewriter. There is A cork board above the desk with pages pinned to it, from old paperbacks, your favorite paragraphs highlighted and underlined. It’s cold and you can hear the wind blustering outside. There is a light, freezing rain pelting the foggy window pane. An old rug covers the hardwood floor and your girlfriend lays in a pile of pillows and blankets, wearing a sweater but no pants, her long hair strewn like a fan across her pillow... like a little halo in waves over her head.

I want a comfy reading room with a girl, I wouldn’t even care if she read genre fiction, as long as she was cozy and quite and snuggled up to me while we read.

Someone describe a more comfy scene than me.

>welder, then welding team manager
>meet young Nursing Aide while visiting elderly aunt
>hit it off
>marry 3 years later
>convince her to go back to school to be a teacher since she hates nursing
>this was 6 years ago

So here's the kicker. My body isn't what it used to be, and I find myself less and less interested in vidya as I get older. So I decided to start reading, to broaden my mind. I've tried my hand at writing too, but I never learned to type so I write it out like a caveman. So I'm struggling through For Whom the Bell Tolls, and my wife notices.
>Did you buy that?
>Uh, yeah, I'm trying to read more.
>Anon, you know I have books, right?
>leads me to her bookshelf
>I've always assumed it was full of teaching books
>It's actually full of a bunch of crazy shit I've never even heard of
>Check with me before you spend money on something I already have, okay honey?

Her copy of Moby Dick is the best thing I've ever held. It's old as dirt, hardcover, the pages are pulpy as hell and I have to be gentle with it because it's so well-used. I've moved that bookshelf 3 fucking times and never once looked in it, now I practically live out of it. She's so much smarter than me it's a little embarrassing, but it's great talking to her about something she's so passionate about and she helps me out a ton.

I guess what I'm saying is don't be so defeatist. Some women do like cerebral things, some are even passionate about them. Don't get all bitter and angry. I believe in (you) Anons, you'll find the right one.

No. Just imagine living a life where you are literally surrounded, insulated, and encapsulated by foreign reproductions of reality. The most transcendentally sublime works of art pale in comparison to even the most banal experiences of reality. At its absolute best, art is akin to intravenous fluid therapy: an artificial supplement that in-of-itself suggests trauma or stunted development. At worst, it engenders a narcotic haze of perpetual consumption in which the reader, aware of his emptiness, is compelled to increase his consumption, as he knows nothing else.

>Looks like there are some classics towards the bottom right.

I think despite the high levels of angry virgin in this thread, any one of us would be ecstatic over a woman that reads
>or a woman at all

If you can find yourself a qt3.14 that mostly reads YA but throws in the occasional classic novel you are lucky. Also a lot of these girls have read classics like Pride and Prejudice and Wuthering Heights which are not exactly childrens' books.

I'd venture to estimate she has about 250 books in that picture. I've been buying books since I was 15 and could easily fill her shelf there and probably still have 50 or 100 left over. And yes, I have read them all. It takes me a week to a week and a half to read a book, so I'm reading up to 50 books a year (real number is closer to 40 since many of the books are academic and take more scrutiny). And then if you estimate that the books are around 300 pages on average, that's only 42 pages a day if it takes you a week, which would probably take me between 90 and 120 minutes to read. If she makes her money on reviewing books and being an instagram bookwhore, it's not a longshot to say she could probably finish all the books in the picture within three years, especially since they're trash YA that's meant to be readable and is padded out by huge fonts and margins. The issue is that she reads only trash YA, not that she lies about it.

Three years?

You could finish all that in a year, two years max, especially if you have a short vacation in there somewhere.

There are readers on goodreads who literally read 300 ya/fantasy novels a year. They're so light it's possible to finish some of them in like eight hours.

It's cool meatheadanon just imagine it's a qt 3.14 nerdgurl who's schlicking at the thought of having a man's man with a softer side. It's totally not a smooth twink sissy who's playing with his boipucci while thinking about playing with your chest hair while you struggle ever so adorably with Melville's prose. it's like OCD. Like some haywire hoarder completionist need to read every YA book in existence, to experience everything out there before you die, without ever stopping to question whether you're actually enjoying it.

Don't let the old school dudebro values and thought process fool you, I was very openly bi before I met my wife. I've always been very monogamous (aside from a drunken 3some with a girlfriend and her friend which she initiated. I thought it was a trap so I made her actually stick my dick in her friend) but I'm pretty, liberal I guess, when it comes to sex. As long as everyone involved is a consenting adult, safe practice is exercised, and you don't rub it in everyone's face I think basically whatever floats your boat is fine and dandy. What happens behind closed doors is none of my business, and letting anything, including sexuality, define your identity is asinine.

Let's not forget that I've been on this site for 10+ years. There's no way I wouldn't be at least a little degenerate.

Twinks, by the way, only get to play with my chest hair if their belly is full, if you catch my meaning. Otherwise their mouth better be.

Kek, I love how I'm "adorably dumb." You sound like my Old Lady.

Though she does say that I'm intelligent, just ignorant. It's hard to dredge deeper meaning from words when the only things you've read in your adult life are actual manuals that literally mean every word they say.

The Old Man and the Sea, for instance. He's an old dude who wanted to catch a fish to end all fish before he went out, so he did. Fuck yeah, go out like a motherfucking champ old man. I didn't read any further into that. I still haven't. I should go back and read that again.

I need to quit reading and responding to this thread after I've taken my Ambien. I get all weird and honest and ramble on.

Also, Instagram is for teenage girls. I don't even keep a Facebook, we have a family profile. Nobody wants to see my shit anyways, I've got a 4 year old and a newborn, I might as well not exist. Which is fine because I don't really care much about what's going on outside my little corner. The little guy's starting to get really fun and the baby, well, she's a baby. You can't not like a baby.
