I need a guide, where did you start? Did anyone actually read this cover to cover? Any introductory books before I dive into this? Where did you get your context from? How long did you take to read this etc etc. Thanks

I started with "Das Kapital", with no prior experience with anything remotely similar. At least the first volume was meant to be read that way, which is a single-standing work, and takes some time to digest imho.

I read Volume 1 from cover to cover (haven't read 2&3 yet, because apparently 2 requires a deep understanding of dialectic, which I don't have), but it took me six months (reading a lot of both related and unrelated stuff on the side). When I didn't understand a term, I searched for it on the internet and did some reading until I understood it.

I watched David Harveys lectures afterwards, and found them quite informative, but many people apparently disagree.

I don't know whether reading other Marx might help, since I don't know it differently, but I've heard that reading "Value, price and profit" and "Wage labour and Kapital" are both good starting points.

I also know that somebody will spring up from behind the bushes and shout something about reading more, which can be done here:

I’m quite well aware that some who want to learn about Marxism do not have the leisure time to read the whole philosophical canon preceding Marx. If so my sympathies. I suggest you start by reading the book below or if you really don’t have time just start with Marx himself.

Hope this helps.
