no one is totally in charge, but there certainly is an economic machinery that favors the rich and is geared towards consolidating power. There is a class that lives primarily off of interest on capital gains, private property, assets, and labor of their employees. There is massive inheritance, tax dodging, etc. There is an imperialist war machine that profits from destabilizing nations as a pretense for invasion
