Because there have been a fair number of Marxist derived revolutions over the past century. Western leftists love them, they say that it will be true communism. Then the Communist Party that had the Communist Revolution institutes a state capitalist economy (sometimes with a brief attempt at other arrangements which get memory holed, ref 'war communism) and sets whatever sort of secret police they form to murder and imprison their political rivals. Western liberals nod, it has to be this way. It gets worse while college commies insist its getting better, politicians say we have a lot to learn from the country where criticizing a politician puts you in a work camp. And then something cracks, and you all go scrambling to explain why it went wrong when you said it was right.

It is perhaps unfair that people should hate communism, but it is understandable. People have skipped theory by realizing that Marxist praxis in practice does not result in Eutopia.

There's a fucking great book I found called Collected German Socialist Theory from "the German Library" that puts together a bunch of essays, excerpts and letters from Feurebach, Marx and Engels. Also has notes and a good intro explaining the advent and progression of socialist thought. I was so impressed I looked for the next volume but couldn't find it online.

The fact the theoretical side underpins innovation and innovations' improvements is a self evident fact if you have even the slightest modicum of an understanding of the history of science. For example, theoretical nuclear physics is important for accurate estimations of the output of nuclear fission power stations, which decreases the uncertainty for investors and hence serves to increase the prevalence of those stations, driving the cost down for consumers. Solar panel innovations are built on a foundation of theoretical physics, as are quantum computers, as are superconductors.
I have no real understanding of how iq works, but nobody does since genes and their functions and products can be really hard to identify and the different "areas" of the brain don't have obvious, clear cut functions, that's why I was so keen to ask anon what genes he'd found that are fundamental to creativity.
