I am writing a cyberpunk novel whose main character is a poorfag (bottom of society), wannabe professional video game player and pianist. Who, using his technical abilities, gets involved with a criminal syndicate. All to support his ailing mother and younger sisters (he drops out of school to support them). The "wannable professional video game player" is the alternative to the path of crime. Note that being a top player in "esports" leads to fame and wealth, which would wash away all his troubles, or so he thinks. He is pulled between the two, though in truth all he wants to be is a pianist, living a comfy life.
