Are there any decent theologians/apologists who focus on more practical things like living in a shit world with shit people? Sort of like Kierkegaard.

Kierkegaard isn't particularly practical.
Look to The Cloud of Unknowing, Imitation of Christ, Confessions and Interior of a Castle.

Stirner is indeed a meme, but like the only picture we have of him, a mere caricature of his real self. He is very practical, especially excellent if you're a melancholic daydreamer, but he isn't particularly concerned with the continuation of Christian metaphysics and theology.

Try the Consoltation by Boethius and the Didascalicon by Hugh of St. Victor.

The Didascalicon is more about the value of Christian learning within the Medieval tradition of the Seven Liberal Arts – practical because it sets you free, hence the Liberal in the title. It doesn't deal so much with "living in a shit world with shit people".

In that regard, I can't fucking believe I forgot Erasmus. His Praise of Folly is amazing – it's a satirical speech, where folly is praising herself backhandedly and slyly. Good stuff.

Here's one of my favorite passages, from Hoyt Hudson's translation.

Not really a theologian, but give Pascal's Pensees a try
