Post a sample of your work, Sataniabro.

Dialogue is a great tool to show your character's personality. Of course, don't pull an Ayn Rand and write a 30k words long monologue...

Regarding what makes "good dialogue", it's hard to describe it. It should flow naturally, it should imitate reality, but improve on it. One (screen)writer that I see getting shilled a lot for good dialogue is Tarantino. I agree with >>15716693, though, I think it's easy to get paranoid about your characters speaking in an unrealistic or cringy way (I get paranoid like that about plot points and settings, I always feel like they're too outlandish and would turn readers off). The only way to tell is to ask your readers to provide feedback specifically about the dialogue.

Regarding inner thoughts, I haven't read it yet, but apparently Hammett's "The Maltese Falcon" has none of that:
>The story is told entirely in external third-person narrative; there is no description whatever of any character's internal thoughts or feelings, only what they say and do, and how they look.
See if that kind of storytelling appeals to you: https://b-ok.xyz/book/830694/0fab69

>you are weak willed if you don't submit to the thought police like I do

Stop quoting me, you're too retarded. Even if you somehow agree with my beliefs you're just a sheep.
