Based thread OP. Fucking love Homer. Homer is based. You are based.
>The Odyssey (only one I had read so far, aside from Gilgamesh which is short, but plan to read Iliad and more, such as Mabinogion, Virgil, Dante, etc. also probably will still be my favorite as I love journeys
>Odysseus of course, name literally means son of pain, loved by everyone he meets and showered with gifts, chad who sleeps with women other then his wife yet keeps her loyal and is a loving husband, master of the domain of the God that curse him. Also he makes modern self-righteous left leaning literary critics seethe (I'm looking at you John Green)
>I really liked the cattle of the sun scene, as I remember visualizing it very vividly as some sort of other worldly location, an empty, yet ancient and divine plateau by the sea, combined with it's simplicity made it seemed like a metaphysical sealing of Odysseus crew mates fate, very fascinating.
>I've only read Fagles (A friend of a family member works at Puffin) though something about Butler is appealing to me so I want to perhaps try it on my read of the Iliad and reread of The Odyssey after.
