How come all modern western philosophers come across as so... up themselves? Don't get me wrong, I recognise they were all very intelligent people and I'm not discrediting their ideas, but the way they interact WITH those ideas I find to be off-putting.

I mean, they all seem to like using their reappropriated Terms (with capitalized letters, of course), all present their arguments in ways only the most analytical-minded of people can reasonably follow, and always seem to talk with this kind of disinterested, holier-than-thou tone.

"Of course the Socialized Man may be genuine in his feelings of goodwill towards the "Resourceful Other," but so long as that Other continues to engage in All-Becoming behaviour, the Socialised Man will, like undomesticated animals, naturally be turned towards people offering a Reductive Opposition to this All-Becoming" is some random phrase I pulled out of my ass that sounds like something from a modern philosopher.

Seriously, I feel like a brainlet most of the time I read them, not because their ideas are so deep that I can't grasp them, but because I feel like I'm being talked to by a kid who's obsessed with trains and just assumes everyone knows all train-related phrases.
