These are more like finishing techniques, it's hard to stuff a story with so much purple prose without making the reader want to suck on a pistol.

not OP but in a similar position, bumping for more recs.

Also I'm in a weird position, I'm in the very beginning of teaching myself french but next semester my school is going to start offering a beginner course in French. Should I keep doing what I'm doing and take the beginner course, stop teaching myself and wait or just keep trudging along on my own?
