Yes it was enjoyable. It's always good to see illustrations by Gahan Wilson, the book was short and sweet, I almost always like Zelazny's prose/voice, the characters were fun, and the ending had tension and surprises.

My only criticism is that the story retreads a lot of ground that he had covered before. On one hand I'm disappointed that he didn't try something new. I consider him one of the stars of SFF because of Lord of Light and a bunch of truly excellent short stories. Amber is my favorite series. Yes I recommend it often because it's good. And he has definitely influenced my own writing. While he was capable of greatness, Night didn't hit that level for me. It was only pretty good. On the other hand, I wonder if he knew he was dying when he wrote it. He died of cancer a couple of years after Night came out. As the last book he wrote, Night in Lonesome October is a good summation of his life's work in a story well told with charm and humor.
