Everything that's written on the book should have some purpose. If it's just meant to entertain and make for a good story, well enough. Like half of pic related was also just about the main characters getting into silly shenanigans on their way to the destination, and that was pretty great too.

Plus, such irrelevant sidequests can still give the impression that the goal is somewhere far away, and that simply getting there is an adventure in itself.
