It's a term I'm reading a lot here and I was wondering if there was any acceptable definition other than "it's what comes after modernism." Superficially, it seems to me (correct me if I'm wrong) that there is a distinction between philosophical postmodernism (like Foucault, Deleuze, etc) and literary postmodernism (like Gaddis, Pynchon, etc). What is postmodernism? A movement? A woldview? An aesthetic? A style? I would like to know if any of you have a definition. Also, are 'postmodern' and 'postmodernist' the same thing?

Recommendations for books written with a robotic, almost screenplay-esque simplicity? All that describing shit in-depth is fucking gay

Anyone else notice the similarity's between Oedipus and Job?

Of course they're still radically different, but I mean the difference can't be denied, especially in old age. Both "perfect men" if you will, in their own ways. But this merely strengthens the similarity.

What are some good books that feature protagonists who are extremely neurotic, self-hating, and obsessed with their past mistakes and/or with how others perceive them?
