I buy books sporadically as a seasonal habit but I can't really seem to follow through on reading. My bookshelf is stocked up but I've never really read any of the books that I buy. I'm reading the Bible now (in kjv of course) but when it comes to other books, I have a hard time finishing them. Last book I tried was Thus spoke Zarathustra and I thought it was shit and weak. What can i do to finish all the books I bought?

How should I go about reading the Bible as a work of literature? I know you shouldn't rush through it like it's a novel, but how should I read it. When I Googled this I saw someone suggest alternating between 2 Old Testament chapters, then a Psalm, then a New Testament chapter, then 2 Old, et cetera. Is this a good idea?
