Jesus christ this is too painful and will make any book feel dated

It won't be 'dated', it will be set in the damn time it was written. It'll only seem dated if it's in there solely to illustrate how hip the author is/was.

Seriously why does anyone even care about british literature anymore, no authors from those shitty little isles have been relevant for at least 3 centuries.

At least they have some sonnets.

I mean even the shit that everybody lauds as god's gift to literature, was a rip off of ancient writing. Ulysses seriously, get some originality.

It's not 'false', it's figurative. Everyone here realizes that it is all in the brain, but that does not mean the metaphor is not useful for discussing levels of thinking. I would have thought /lit/ of all places understood that there is truth to be found in fiction. Why don't you contribute something instead of stroking your ego in public?

Hey /lit/, my summer break just started!
I've been writing a paper on the history of childrens literature for the last three days, and I'm finally finished!

I've made a list of books to read this summer, and I'd like to know if any of you have a list like that, or books you will read soon?

Anyhow;
Don Quijote - Miguel Cervantes
Frankenstein -Mary Shelley
Agnes Cecilia – en sällsam historia - Maria Gripe
Äldreomsorgen i Övre Kågedalen - Nikanor Teratologen
Att hata allt mänskligt liv - Nikanor Teratologen
Ficciones - Jorge Luis Borges
Atlas Shrugged - Ayn Rand
House of Leaves - Mark Z. Danielewski
Kokoro - Natsume Sōseki
The Metamorphosis - Franz Kafka
The Neverending Story - Michael Ende
Anna Karenina - Lev Tolstoj
The Dark Tower: The Wind Through the Keyhole - Stephen King

Bear in mind this is summer reading, so ignore the pleb level literature. You have to read that too some times.
