I'm afraid to read poetry because of the fear that it'll turn me into a subvocalizing retard. Anyone have that experience? Did reading poetry have a detrimental effect on your reading speed and enjoyment of prose?

I'm suspicious of pointless neologisms. There already is a term for "being anti racist;" it's "not being racist." The creation of new language where old would suffice shows that someone is trying to craft a new narrative that will be more easily enforced by said loaded language.

I'm just trying to find a good quiet place to read I have extremely loud neighbors... Does anyone have this same problem and where do you go to get peace and quiet?

I tried coffee shops but it's a little loud and very expensive to buy coffee so you can stay and I live in the city so my library resembles more of a homeless center than a library...
