We obviously spend our time living vicariously through media. We now our social interactions are cheapened and interaction with people is replaced by interaction with images of people in social media. On 4chan the images are not even people you know and you interact superfically with people you don't know and what ever images they post. the images don't even have to be people, often the simple shapes of a sparse cartoon face is used to elicit emotions in the viewer. This section of the internet is modern apex of our Society of Spectacle.

4chan is the highest peak in a society of spectacle. In the society the masses do not participate in activities but live vicariously as spectators. You don't lead a dynamic engaging life so you watch one being lived artificially on the television. You don't have real interaction you interact with people you know though social media. Finally you come to 4chan and you interact artificially with people you don't know who don't know you. Your human experience is being degraded through the worst imitation of life there is.
