Bias to existing success, tried and true names, classics.
Dilution of incoming money gutted publishers. Editors gone. Promotion gone. Tours gone. You’re now expected to be a one man band or buy your own services and promotion independently.

As publishing shrinks it comes closer to just being a fancy self publishing outlet with extra legal hurdles. If you can make it on your own, grow an audience, get paying customers, what is the publisher for again? If they provide no services why chase them? Just focus on genuinely being a one man band.
The trouble here is most authors are autistic retards with no social graces. They can’t build that audience, game social media, buy the right connections to push their books on Amazon or NYT bestseller lists.
If you’re a social media influencer fag you have a bigger shot being a writer than if you’re good at writing but suck at the social one man band.
