His Trilogy can be tiresome and I'm not gay so the gay sex scenes get a quick read.

However I think he was trying to experiment with how memory worked as he revisited the same scene again and again and thought it appeared identical when it was in fact, not.

Burroughs realized he had a limited talent so he experimented with the cut-up to help spark ideas and his own imagination.

Yes I have experimented with the cut-up and if you're stuck in a block, it can give you fresh ideas.
