I'm back already looking for a recommendation. I'm starting to think I already juiced /sffg/ for the best picks already. I'm not going to lie, I'm losing faith in your ability to make any more good recs.
If I had to list my priorities, it would be: characters > plot > world building. In that order. Or: conflicts > intrigues/mysterys > paint drying > battles.
Hyperion is actually a very character driven book with a lot of mystery. The Gentleman Bastard is a very character driven book with lost of intrigues. Dune, Licanius, just about all of the books I liked have character driven conflicts with some mystery to keep the reader strung along. I want more of that.
And also
No Bakker
No Sanderson
No Wolfe
No Vance

I actually appreciate your patience with me. I've only been reading for a short while now, and so I'm only discovering what I really enjoy about these books. The picture is coming clearer now. And it's because of your recommendations. Whether I like them or not, either way helps shape my tastes.

>I dropped the book around this part
lol, what? That's the thing that makes you drop a book while you're 8 books in?
Your critique doesn't even make sense. You claim Lindon's plot is recycled. Despite the fact that he's facing new foes, and utilizing a new ability, and acting in a new role.(Being a leader for once, and calling the shots, rather than following people around like a dog)
But then in the same breath you suggest that Yerin's story is unique when she's doing the same exact thing she's always done since the very beginning of the book: Training under a sage, and battling against her blood shadow.

>yet Lindon, our MC, gets to kill monsters to buy treasures
Again, like I said, Lindon was taking a lead position for once, and commanding a force. On top of that, he's seeking for his revelation to advance men. On top of that he's directly opposing the people who seek to follow the dread god. He wasn't merely killing monsters, he was draining people and stealing their masks. He was dismantling ambushes. He was showing himself as someone people can look up to. As well as solidifying his relationship with Yerin.

>Yep, Lindon sure built up a lot of points he received absolutely zero reward for.
You fail to understand that he's actually growing as a character, as well as in power. And besides, he didn't buy any treasure for himself, as he was saving up for the diamond veins. Which he was eventually gifted by Pride in the end. Showing that he's earned the respect of one of his rivals. Showing his team is happy with him.

>Larger =/= better. It was fucking bloated.
But you criticized the length of the previous book. So he made up for that by delivering an extra long book this time.

>Thanks to Northstrider teaching him Consume which made him skyrocket and would render any field of battle opportune.
First of all, Dross and Lindon took the initiative in stealing the secrets. Though Northstrider probably allowed the theft to happen, it was still a proactive move by Dross and Lindon. And even when Northstrider gave a small amount of instruction, Lindon still had to work out the rest. Lindon also figured out how to create a new armor, and created some kind of self purifying form by allowing Blue into his core.

You guys really sound like you didn't finish the book, because if you did, then you would know that Lindon advanced to a position equal to Sage in the end. Manifesting the icon of a black hole, and naming himself "the end". He actually *skipped* overlord and archlord. But also, what the fuck does the black hole icon even mean? Lindon is on an unusual path. It might very well be a new path.

You guys are so wrong about everything. I don't mind when people say they dislike something. But when you give me factually incorrect reasons to explain why you dislike it, then I have to take issue.
