I'm reading a book about bad writing and he goes to start talking about all these words young people use that you shouldn't use because there's another word (generally an older one) and here I am struggling to understand why all these clearly functional and logical english phrases don't work.

I do appreciate all that knowledge, and I loved the chapter about puntuaction rules but...

At what point you should follow those prescriptive use of the language specially if your goal is to be published?

If your goal is academia, then by all means, do that degree, or if you wanna work as writer in some company.

If your goal is to be a fiction writer or just writing novels, poetrhy and shit, then is just meme shit and wont teach the basics of what do u really need to learn to be a top writer.
