The movies are at such a centre of our current entertainment-structure and it seems to mirror the idea of Nietszches call that we need to transform our humanity to super/overhumanity. Finding it a fact that I have no afterlife to look forward to, my life as it is takes on more vibrancy.
But this place! It’s a mess!
Why are people stuck in these whiny doldrums of nihilism? Why not take the challenge of life by the tail, like some mythic dragonslayer? Why say “there’s no meaning to life”? How “post-modern” of you. Death is what has no meaning. I know it’s natural purpose well enough. Vampire tales’ve hammered these lessons home often enough.
There’s a universe to reach out into waiting for us, and we can explore some of it. But not until we transform ourselves to something beyond this mad beast

If there was such a thing as a soul, why would you assume it were immortal, and not vaporous and lost on the wind, landing in a tree's buds, parts stuck to a bee's knees to make the honey, swallowed by a baby to sooth it's teething?

An after-life? Beyond those that we birth into being, there does not appear to be any.
How could we arrange to make one? Prolong life as much as we can as we expand into outer space. Maybe future thinkers will discover how to "time travel" and create alternate universes for each and every deserving person to live that life as a demigod. Maybe "Santa Clause" is watching. And we better be good, in the eyes of the over-humans.
