I don't know much about poetry, but I can try to help.

Only thing I can add to pic related is that you are viewing poetry as a task instead of what it really is: a passion, and a way of life. As a poet you must not concern yourself with how 'good' you are, only that you are writing poetry. My apologies I always say just too much and I don't know when to stop.

The Ode Less Travelled is probably your best bet for starting, teaches you the basics like metre, form etc

if you want something a little more comprehensive, John Lennard's Poetry Handbook is really good. from there, I would pick a poet you like and find consume every bit of criticism on it that you can find
