I picked up a copy of Lanark in my local FNBS yesterday for only 3,99. I was pretty stoked because I haven't read it for years, and I remember it being awesome.

I hope you enjoy it, but I bet mine was cheaper, so nyer nyer, mucky bear.

Pic related, Alasdair Gray designed the ceiling of this boozer in Glasgow. One day he'll be recognised as one of the 20th century's greatest talents.

I think he does frequent the place. Besides his murals there I once saw some good old fashioned graffiti in the mens toilets signed by him. Not sure if it was an 'authentic Gray' but photographed it anyway. Can't find the photo, must be on my other computer.

That spelling mistake on 'separation' bugged me (albeit it might have been intentional for some reason, need to read the book again) so I'm posting one more piece of Alasdair Gray's art. This is a section of the quite stunning murals on the ceiling of, believe it or not, the function room of a Glasgow pub that I drink at called The Oran Mor. It did used to be a church of course. Still haven't seen him and had the chance to buy him a whisky yet, alas.

As well as being one of my writers he is also one of my favourite artists.
