I meet people. Whether I like them or not is usually irrelevant. I'm often in a situation where I have to cooperate with them. Better to develop bonds than be a dick just because someone's completely different from you.

I feel people out, talk about what I think they might be interested in, and make myself easy by being interested in many things.

I also like dumb shit because it's funny and can lift my spirits for the more daunting parts of life.

It's all for a practical purpose. Sorry if I became pretentious. My goal was only to respond to someone who asked why I would like junk fiction or whatever the exact wording was.

It's kind of hard to be "pretentious" in an anonymous conversation that disappears in days-to-weeks and which exists solely for the purpose of self reflection on the part of everyone involved.
