I'm looking for some wireless earbuds for around 50 dollars that I can use while reading for background noise.
Can anyone give me some recommendations?

I've become quite interested in the Netherlands recently and I was wondering if there are any books that can serve as a general introduction to Dutch history?

I'm jealous, Anon. I'm actively trying to get a book series published. First book is done, working on the second book right now. I'm trying to get the first book published and I'm not sure what route to take. I've queried a few agents and have looked at a few small presses. Gotten some rejections already. I'm hoping for good news. Unlike you, I don't have money to advertise self-publishing.

One thing I have thought to do is serialize it and put it on some kind of website that highlights its content. Amazon just released a new Kindle service that lets you release serialized content in a way that gets attention, and I have seriously thought about using it. I've also thought about putting my novel on Substack.

I have a semi-decent social media presence, so there IS a way I could get at least some eyes on it, if I did this.

How do you make a work of fiction take over the world these days?

I'm talking about the way Harry Potter took over the world. Something on that scale.

Obviously Rowling endured dozens of rejections until she hit the sweet spot and blew up hugely. Is that the way to do it? Do you still need to go through traditional publishing to truly make it big? Or have things changed enough that you can make a story be everywhere even if you don't get traditionally published?

Let us assume for the purposes of this question that the story we are talking about is actually worth reading.

Do you realize that artistic genius is its own species of genius? I bet you would say that Michelangelo and Rembrandt and Van Gogh weren't "smart" either, since they didn't have technical knowledge and were not proficient in the hard sciences.
