Read the complete works, front to back, accept the grace of God.

I suffer from chronic depression and highs and lows come and go, but it is only recently that I've turned to reading fiction (like seriously reading fiction) as opposed to the philosophy I read as prior to my depression and/or parallel to it.

The depression is my life and I learn more with each episode, but my relationship with literature has changed. In fact I read more now than I ever did, and I write a fair bit too - just things, but fully formed and well organized thoughts and concepts.

I wonder if I read to cope/as escapism and even if so, would you agree that literature is the most acceptable coping mechanism one has? I mean, reading more and writing more should be a good thing right? And if we all cope at the end of the day, then this should be good right? I just want to do justice to sorting out my depression and to do the books I read.
