OT prefigures Christ and the NT. Christ is the fulfillment of the OT.

Read the CCC. And it's called Typology, understanding the New Testament with an Old Testament context. An example is John The Baptist saying he is not worthy of loosening the sandal of Jesus. Why does he say this? Look to Deuteronomy 25.

The Old Testament is the prefigurement of Jesus Christ. And Both libraries of books are divinely inspired, so would all of these astounding connections in OT and NT be just coincidences? No, not at all. Also, what do you think the prophets did? They prophesied Jesus Christ.
