Evopsych is gigabased and caused huge seethe from all quarters, some specific aspects of Buss go further than is true but people cannot claim that an organism‘s behaviour doesn’t have evolutionary origin. It’s quite funny that eco psych is just behavioural bio applied to humans, people are fine with behavioural bio until it’s applied to humans because it confronts them with a reality of human behaviour beyond what they are comforted by in the enlightenment liberalism they cannot see passed. Evopsych isn’t great for treating mental illnesses though, that doesn’t stop its capability of understanding why we do what we do on a broad scale. The problem is that it isn’t currently developed enough, not least because terrified humanist psychologists try very hard to kill it because evolutionary drivers reveal what a sham the beliefs pushed by modernity are.

It fits right in with the rest of psychology then. Psychology must incorporate evolution if it ever wants to truly understand human behaviour, which should be obvious, you can’t understand an organism without biology and you can’t understand biology without evolution; humans are an organism, ergo evolution is needed to understand them.

To the same extent that everything scientific that is not absolutely mathematical is a theory. It’s an important way to understand the struggle of life. It’s a far greater scientific foundation to build from than anything else in psychology as well.
And we must all remember who has the most to fear being revealed from the application of evolution to human behaviour.
