budding libertarian's adventures in eighties manhattan

So i finally got about a third of the way through American Psycho and it's really starting to pick up. Patrick's excessive clothing descriptions and his accounts of dinner with his equally dull associates originally drove me insane though. Anyways what do you guys think of the book? I haven't seen the movie yet and don't plan on watching until after I finish.

Location:
>When reading shit like this: in public.
>When reading anything else, normally in my room, masturbating with the other hand to keep my body occupied while my mind does something else.

Sustenance:
Normally just tea. Eating requires my attention being on something else.

Music:
>Depends on the book: I take mood into account, and if the style is complex, maybe ambience or instrumentals; if it's simple, I might play some dark electro-industrial or symphonic rock.

Bookmark of choice:
>Blank paper. If I don't have my notebook, I'll need something else to write ideas onto.

Okay so I just finished reading this, throughly enjoyed it. However is it worth seeing the movie?
I guess they cut out some of the violence but is it a worthy adaptation (like Requiem for a Dream)?
