>toxic groupthink
Kek--fuck off. It's literally a meme book thread.

Books I've read because of /lit
>Conversations With Friends (Rooney)
Not as terrible as I thought it would be but still banal drivel. It's not "literature," it's pretty lowbrow, but it's well written. Basically on the same level as Atwood but with less skill. However, Rooney is better at rounding her characters than Atwood is--with the qualification that Rooney's characters aren't very complex in the sense that they have cliched internal lives.
>The Bow and the Club (Evola)
I've only read one essay so far so I honestly can't give a fair opinion on it.
>L'Academie
It was a huge slog and without the threads it wouldn't be funny enough to read on its own.
>David Foster Wallace (Oblivion)
I'd read a book on math he wrote a long time ago and it convinced me he was a pseud. I gave him a second try at the behest of his popularity on this board and I've enjoyed his work so far. I started IJ about 5 years ago and couldn't get into it...but I'm going to read it eventually based on the strength of his short stories.
>Mishima
Liked Mishima before 4chan (heard about him originally in a reading guide I bought in a used bookstore, "Cult Fiction" which is great btw). I appreciate the fact he is popular on here but I think a lot of people are filtered by the fact he started a cult and don't necessarily appreciate him being a complex figure with great talent (i.e. they just like the nationalism shit (as well as the quality of his work)).
Books I'm going to read because of lit:
>Storm of Steel
>Revolt Against the Modern World
>IJ (mentioned above)
Not that many because /lit doesn't influence the majority of my reading habits. Mishima wasn't because of /lit but I enjoy the discussions and the memes.

That's a photo of Mishima that was published in multiple tabloids across Japan after his seppuku. The quote is from a Persona (a biography of him). Lurk more.
