I finished Hyperion #1 today. Does the story get a more satisfying ending in the other books?
I wrote a goodreads review but, to vent a bit more, I really fucking hated how it ended. Spoilers, but the whole 'actually it's blade runner' penultimate chapter really irritated me. The fact that the Templar's death is never actually explained irritates me too. I feel like it's ending was really unsatisfactory, ended up with a lot of exposition, and just a 'read the next one to find out!' bullshit copout. The Consul's reveal chapter is then ruined by this. I'm gunna reread the last chapter later today just to make sure I'm not retarded, but I wanted to see if I was alone in feeling like this.
That being said, if anyone is planning on reading Hyperion #1, I'd strongly recommend it. It's really well crafted non-expositional storytelling, which is why I'm so angry that the ending ruined it.
