German Anons of /lit/

I'd like to ask for your help. I am making plans for the writing a novel set in Germany in World War II (currently I'm doing preparatory readings and crude outlinings). I wish I could talk about the German perspective of the conflict.

I myself have German blood, but my family has been living for five generations in Argentina and Uruguay. I have some knowledge of the German culture, but I must deepen it.

I would like to know things like:

German traditional dances and songs
German cuisine
german family traditions
Festivals and festivities
anecdotes
Fauna and flora of the country

What books do you recommend me to learn about these things?

Any other information-source that will make me learn more about the country is welcomed.

Unfortunately I can not read German, but only English (I am studying German, but it will take some time for me to learn the language).

Thank you allvery much
