No strayans with the arch patrician? Shame, really.

Is there anyone more patrician than Patrick White? His very name, Patrick, means 'patrician', and his surname, White, not only denotes the most patrician of all races but the most high and most noble of all nature's colours (I think we've all read Moby Dick here, and can agree). Not to mention that the era in which he was being white was the era of the White Australia policy, in which he, an Australian, was winning this whitest and most highly-HDI'd of nations its first Nobel prize for literature. Even his sexuality is patrician; he civil partnered with a wealthy Egypto-Greek military officer, effectively marrying into prosperity (despite that he would earn the Whites great renown by his own means, also).

I doubt anybody here could name a more patrician author (not without going full-'born in the wrong generation' nostalgist and mentioning, like, Byron or Wilde someone of their type.)

So what are your thoughts on Patrick White, /lit/?
