Livy also has a few good texts that I have in the shelf above. He wrote on the wars of Rome and the rest of Italy, and Rome vs Carthage. Then there’s also Tacitus, Suetonius, and Josephus who wrote on the Jewish Wars of the Roman Empire.

The Bible is also a good start point for understanding war. Not only as a why, but a how and understanding the political science or psychology of war. But then we start to get into another category.
